heat wave

i know everyone is sick about hearing about the heat, but its really al everyone talks about here, and now its just a joke for us. so friday was one of the hottest days on record here, i think, but we were ok becasue we have air conditioning! hahaha, but only one room in our house has it, so thats the room that had our 4 matresses in it beccause 4 beds wouldnt fit. so around 3:30 in the morning i wake up feeling like someone threw a steaming hot damp towel on me. and i realize that our power went out, woohoo. then i hear the other hermanas wake up as well, its crazy how fast your body reaslies that you are cooking. we just started laughing and half crying at the same time, it was a pretty memorable night,  the first thing we wanted to do was make fun of oran, our area and complain about how ridiculous it is here, but then i thought of nephi and how he was in the desert but never complained, his brothers and even his dad did, but not nefi. he just kept doing what God told him to do, but he never complained. it made me  appriciate that story a little more.  to try to fix the situation my comp got completly soaked in the shower to try to cool off but the water was hot and then there was no water, haha, then she slept in her wet clothes but it didnt really matter because we were so sweaty there was no difference. in the morning we learned that  the major power plant had busted in the night because too many people were using their energy, so all of oran was out of power and water. luckly me and my comp were bored one day and filled a ton of big bottles with water and clorine to save for "one day" when we would need it. so we had water to try to shower but there was no point really, hahaha it was that awesomely hot.

the next day was just as hot but also humid and the other hermanas had a baptism but there was still no power, but the church had water to fill the font so we were on! haha. by the time the baptisim got started it was night and we were in the church without light,  their president had a lantern and everyone else had their cell phones out, it was ridiculously hot inside the church but it was a cool experience, it gave a new meaning to the light of Christ.  it was completely dark inside but we could feel the spirit as a mom and her daughter made a covenant with their Heavenly Father. there were so many things that went worng but it was ok. we just have to keep confiding in the Lord and everything will be ok.

then the Lord blesses us with rest, like sunday when we got up and it was a beautiful cloudy cool day with signs of rain. and tons of wind. but it was beautiful!

right now we are teaching jorge, his mom and siblings are members and he just up and went to church one day because he reaslied that he had seen a change in his family and now he wants to change too. he feels  the Spirit when he goes to church and he knows its true he just doesnt want to admit it to himself. we taught him the word of wisdom the other day, and at first he had a lot of doubts but then he told us that he had already stopped drinking with his friends. even before we had said anything about not drinking, and he said its because he didnt want to go to church feeling guilty knowing that we was drinking the day before, but he felt guilty on his own. it was the Spirit, the light of Chist that is in him that told him before we did. i love seing how people are prepared by the angels of the Lord before we even find them. i know that He guides us to them, or them to us. we are just His instruments in this great work.

i was reading this morning in the new leahona about all the chistmas stories and about Christ. i dont think i really got it last year but this year im trying to understand just how important chirstmas really is. that takes scripture study and preperation,  but i think im getting it now. Christ is God's gift to us. john 3:16-17 the only way we can be saved, truely saved. meaning that we can return to our Father, with our family and all that we learned is only though Christ. it it the only way. with out Him there is no plan. there is no hope. there is no happiness, and the family will only last as long as we live. how depressing is that.  this is the time of year when we celebrate that gift, the girft of Christ and through Him, salvation. how much love must He have to plead for us to the Father when we are so unworthy of His presence. but that is love, and when we fallow Him in this life we can live with Him again. wow. how marvalous is this gift.

this chistmas think of Christ and give what you can to show your love to Him.

i love you all and i thank you for your love.

besitos y abrasos. hermana hanson!
