ok that was the best letter ever, its fun to hear a little from everyone, haha thanks dad for making them write me ;) just kidding. but really i loved it. i never know what to write, i feel awkward talking about normal stuff. i do with other people here, i just feel like you want all the spiritual stuff, which sometimes you have to look hard for, but its there.
first of all the weather is crazy and every day is dfferent, last week i was freezing and this week it's hot so i never know what to wear. for p-day we had a baking party, hermana castillo, don't let the name fool you she is from the states (but her family is from watsonville!) knows and likes to cook so we were all her prep chefs and we made biscuits and gravy and then a lemon cheese cake.
so the girl we are teaching julieta, she is 17. she was supposed to get baptized the 15, next saturday, but this week she asked us if she could do it this saturday, the 8th, woohoo. ya we were fine with that.
i have a question, its a hard one and i invite all of you to think about it and then act of your answer.
but first the background info. i dont know about every other missionary, but im pretty sure its for alot of misionaries, but out of all the days of the week there is one that is a least favorite. anyone want to guess which?
no not the day after p-day. sadly and i am ashamed to admit its sunday. now dont be offended. i still love church, and its not for the selfish reasons of wanting to go to my own ward or sit with my family. its becasue sunday is the make or break day of the week. its the day that shows if you worked hard or if people really have desires to progress, but if they come to church, but not just investigators less active members too, its a real bummer when you work hard all week and none of them are at church, (don't worry the exact opposite happened this sunday, this isn't a complaint :) and one time when then happened i was talkin to my comp about it, and we talked about how we come to church always proccupied for who will come, we always notice who isn't there and who is, if they look happy or stressed, who brought friends. that kind of stuff.
so then we came to the final question that i think if there was an answer, it would solve the probem to every missionarys bummer sundays. .. " how can we get members to feel the same way missionarys feel on sundays?" how can we get the members to be worried for the salvation fo their brother and sisters in the church, like a bishop worries, or a mother. i understand its hard becasue we all have our own families to look after, espically with little kids and thoughts on our minds about the stresses of the world, and missionaries are focused on this and only this, but if the members worried about it like the missionarys are, i really feel like things would change, this isn't to talk about you all, i'm talking about all members here and there.
so the question is how? as if every member were a missionary, but thats what we should be isn't it? thats my question for the week, think about it and maybe ask other people so they can think about it and maybe the wards can start thinking about it togeather. for all those who were once missionaries you understand the stress im talking about and i think mothers do to, so lets feel the same way for our fellow members. that would be awesome, and if you have ideas let me know so i can help out the wards in argentina.
this is a work of little miracles:
- like an investigator of ours adrian, wont accept to be baptized, but the other day he went out and bought a white shirt and tie, that was a little miracle that made my day.
- a recent convert mom has been struggling and is really worried for her son, the other night she felt like she needed to read the book of mormon late at night, she felt comforted, the next morning she woke up early but not on purpose but had time make it to church, when she went to check on her kids they too were all awake and getting ready to go, never happens to her. that was a miracle and a blessing
- we randomly found the house of a member whose grandaughter is 8 but isn't baptized, before she said she didn't want to, but we are planning a baptisim for other little girls in the ward in 2 weeks, when we explained what baptism was and that other girls would do it with her she was excited to be baptized, it was just the right timing.
i love and thank you all for all you have done for me and taught me. i know this is the work of our lord. im grateful to labor in it.
con todo mi amor. hermana hanson
