So ya time flies and is ridiculously slow. I seem to notice how fast it is here because I have a time limit on how long I have to do all I can, but ya it already Feb. But here there aren't months we time is measured in 6 week periods and we are already in week 3! Crazy. Hey Jodi next summer we can do swim lessons in Spanish! woohoo. That could be fun. If I know enough Spanish by then, haha, ojos en el agua :)
I'm not sure if i told you last time, but we had a baptism my first Saturday here, but it was given to us. :) It's a girl whose mom lives in another area and she got taught by the elders at her moms house, but the bishop said she had to be in the ward where she lives so we got to baptize her, :) woohoo.
but here we have another investigator who is awesome! her name is Patricia, she is 26. she has had a book of Mormon for 3 years now because a friend gave it too her and had told her about the church. ( whats that about members being missionaries!) she gets excited when we teach her because she gets to learn more, her family is catholic and isn't happy about her interest in the church, but she really has a testimony and she knows she cant deny it to make her family happy. she came to church this Sunday for the 2nd time and in sacrament asked me if it was only Sundays, because she wants to go more, once a week isn't enough :) but she goes to her parents every weekend, they live out in the country its like 40-60 min away, but she woke up at 6 to make the bus to get to church at 9.30, then went back to her parents after, and she is really to do this every Sunday. i would love to say that its something we did, but its not, all we do is give her more information and testify but she feels the spirit and reads and prays. but she wouldn't have known about the church if she hadn't been told about it by a friend, and really this is what made the difference.
the work is changing, we need the help of members, really people see us missionaries and don't want to let us in, but when they have friend in the church they are more open to us, but even better is when their friends share the book of Mormon, it might not seem like they care and it might not change them now, but our father in heaven has his own time to do things, and one day this will find the truth and if not them then someone in their family but if we don't share the gospel first they will never have this chance. really we find a teach a lot of people and 1/20 truly progress and maybe 1/50 get baptized, ok maybe not even that. and thats just here in Argentina, but not so much in the states, i think. but when people have already been introduced into the church and they already have that support of a friend or a family they are more likely to stay active and have a strong testimony, ok this is my opinion, but its also what I've seen, a lot of the members here learned of the church through friends or family, not the missionaries knocking their door. I'm just saying. if you want to help a sister out. open you mouth and spread the word ;) hehehe.
Ok other stuff, I'm good, still always hot, last night it was 94 in our house and humid, ya baby!!! so we slept out side on our patio, we are on the 8th and last floor so we have a pretty big patio, its my favorite place in Tucuman so far, but it was cool to sleep outside and see the stars, makes me feel not so far away. (this is when you sing the song from Fifel Goes West, Erinn help them out) :) the work here is different but its still the work of the lord. thanks for the love and support. not sure if i forgot anything.but i love you! have a good week!
love hermana hanson
